Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit

Thanks. I assumed it might be a 2 as I found reference to the older Fanuc system on another post. Probably doesnt matter, will all get ripped out soon anyways.

Re: Hardinge CHNC4 Retrofit

Thread hijack, just got my 2nd CHNC and this one needs a lot of TLC. It has a Fanuc GN6 series with Tape Drive. Looks like Servos on the axis.

Does anyone know what version of CHNC this is?

Re: ATC - Rachet / Pawl, no sensors - Macro

Just checking the older threads, this might be the best way to do this (the code that Chris put out once the roll over bug was sorted)?

ATC - Rachet / Pawl, no sensors - Macro

A long time ago I fit a turret to my Harrison M300. A lot has changed since then and the way we did the macro for it was hacky to say the least. https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=1544&p=9607#p9607 Based on the current method of doing Macros and ATC, would we still do the 'A A...

You can use a second servo with a clutch, or a spindle servo that can be switched from speed to position mode.

Uwe
Thanks and this is all within the Lathe Pro functionality?

Thanks

Re: Lathe Spindle Encoder Options

An adjacent question. Is it possible, with the standard lathe setup, to run the spindle as an Axis with positional capability? For example, let's say I have a milling attachment and want to use the spindle as a '4th' axis, can this be done with Acorn 4 / Lathe Pro (assuming I have the right hardware...

Re: Lathe Spindle Encoder Options

With a toothed belt 1:1 on the spindle a servo encoder will be ok. Anything not 1:1 or a slipping belt will not work. Uwe Thanks Uwe. I know that on some setups you can alter the numerator / denominator to potentially 'mimic' a 1:1 ratio but it sounds like I should just find a rotary type encoder a...

Lathe Spindle Encoder Options

I've got a little Denford Orac which is up and running on Centroid. It used to have an older encoder of sorts with a little AC motor providing spindle power. I'm considering changing this to a servo. Can I use the output of a suitable drive (like the Panasonic Minas) where it has its own position fe...

Re: Denford Triac Carousel ATC

I'm back on this machine to finish off the install as Ive needed to get the plates made and installed for the motor mounts. Some really odd issues. MPG is on, nothing on the screen. The ATC macro doesnt work. Even running something like M94 /65 to switch on an output doesnt work (in the macro or vi...
