Re: DMM Encoder options

I am retrofitting a 2003, Haas TM-1. The original motors are Yaskawa X & Y are 450w, medium inertia, Z is an 850w, brake, medium inertia, all motors are 130mm mount. So, going with the DMM, I plan on using the 1kw, 130mm motors. I plan on using the Oak board. I looked at using Yaskawa drives, bu...

Re: '93 Haas VF-1 retrofit

Hi Marty. I am glad that you are not having issues with the DMM drives. I have a Haas TM-1 and have not selected the drives yet. But I was staying away from these drives because of the amount of problems that I been seeing here and on other posts. But, seeing that you are not having problems, I may ...

Re: '93 Haas VF-1 retrofit

Did you check to see if you are getting a momentary voltage drop when things happen? Also, DC power supplies when power is applied, draw a huge amount of amperage. This can cause problems, so the power should be applied only when the circuit breaker is turned on.

Re: VFD Braking Resistor Specification?

The one that you got should be fine. The 27 ohm resistor is the one that I was going to recommend, but there is about a 30% duty cycle on that one. For higher duty cycle you would need more stuff for the drive. Since Automation Direct is a distributor for WEG, they could have gotten the resistor for...

Re: VFD Braking Resistor Specification?

"Ihave a WEG CFW-08 10AMP VFD that"

What is the exact part number of the drive? It makes a difference what resistor you use.

Re: No Jog on Z Axis

As an update; Z axis motor has a bad encoder. Works fine CCW but CW quits after 100rpms.

Re: No Jog on Z Axis

Your text (2a) Yes, that is correct. I missed a step in my explaination. (3) & (3A) Yes, X only. (4a) Yes, both Y and Z came on (5a) Yes, it fights. (5b) I cannot turn it and there is no errors or red bar "Do you mean that the problem stays with the Z servo motor; the Z cable; or the Z driv...

No Jog on Z Axis

I am setting up a new board and X and Y axis work fine. However, I can't get the Z axis to work. Upon Estop release, power comes on to all 3 motors and they are holding position. Using ether the MPG or the VCP, jog works for both the X and Y but not for Z. If I run a job, the program will run, but Z...

Re: flying cables to servo driver/amp for oak

Hi Rmillerauto I am an industrial controls systems engineer for the last 30 years. I am presently doing about the same thing with a 2004 HAAS TM-1. First of all, the spindle can be run with a single phase VFD, (Check out Polyspeed drives) vector drive is not needed. There is an encoder that will fee...
