Re: Acorn ERRORS during first move

It's all working now. I did put it into bench test mode like suggested, it still moved slowly on it's own as soon as motion was commanded. In ClearPath MSP I found the homing radio button checked, so I unchecked it. Problem solved! It's always the stupid little things isn't it? I still don't know wh...

Re: Acorn ERRORS during first move

Its a belt drive for an axis that is basically a conveyor system that takes parts through a sand blasting cabinet. I tried to talk to the owner about converting it to a PLC but when I saw the conversational programming capabilities of the Centroid system we went that rout.

Re: Acorn ERRORS during first move

Keith, I'm on my way down there shortly and I will report back about bench test mode.

To put it in bench test mode, do I have to disconnect everything? Or, does bench test mode ignore all of the I/O except what is necessary?

Re: Acorn ERRORS during first move

I have, the motor is just under the limits for the axis dynamics. I dialed it in a bit more than it used to be and it was working with the other controller setup.

Re: Acorn ERRORS during first move

I did use the clearpath MSP software to re-tune the motor for the load and check performance and any errors that might occur. I'm starting to think I must have the steps per inch or the acceleration settings in Centroid too high. That would explain a reason for the error code after a small amount of...

Re: Acorn ERRORS during first move

@cnckeith I'll go down in a couple hours and do that.

In the mean time can anyone see a problem with my math? Could I have the settings wrong and I am sending out too many step pulses for the servo?

Re: Acorn ERRORS during first move

I have thought the same thing. That's why I just posted my math, the spreadsheet is perfect, but my math logic can be error prone. :?

Am I putting out too many steps for the motor. I have a command speed of 100 ipm.

Re: Acorn ERRORS during first move

That is a shorter shielded Ethernet cable that I used initially, but I have swapped it with the one that came with the Acorn kit just to be sure. No change. The acorn was never working. The clearpath worked before with Mach3 and an ESS. My bench test was on the machine when I first installed the aco...

Re: Acorn ERRORS during first move

Here's a better picture of the acorn and it's connections.

Re: Acorn ERRORS during first move

There is no board plugged into the DB25 port. You are looking at a small relay board that is mounted close to the acorn. What you are suggesting I do I have done three times. I have started over with the wizard each time. However, I can do it again when I get back to the location of the machine, But...
