Re: The Hickory CNC controller is now available.

I don't believe I've seen it mentioned, which Inovance servos are being tested currently?

Re: Can the active g code program be changed via the PLC?

The way you phrased the original question, and the solution I suggested for that, will only work if you allow the CNC job to come to an end (perhaps immediately after calling the robot to swap parts). After a brief interval with nothing running, CNC12 would notice the presence of the loadjob.txt fi...

Re: Can the active g code program be changed via the PLC?

While the PLC program cannot directly change the loaded program, there is an "end run" available. It would only be practical if you had a short list of pre-determined CNC job file names to choose from. 1) The PLC program can trigger execution of a Windows batch file, by setting PLC system...

Re: Can the active g code program be changed via the PLC?

I assume: Robot loads the part, pulls clear, G code resumes. Machine stops, signals Robot to unload and load part G code resumes Trying to understand your question. Please explain exactly how a typical cycle runs. Post the G code. How the Robot interacts with the machine... Marty I'm not at the sho...

Can the active g code program be changed via the PLC?

I have a Tree 325 with a Dynapath 20 control in need of a retrofit I am feeding with a Fanuc robot. The robot is jumpered into the cycle start and cycle end signals. I have a macro set up to look at the status of a few inputs to determine which program to run, but it is very limited. I am wondering ...

Re: Setting Frequency/Speed in Automation Direct GS3 VFD

Have you tried:

P0.02 - 60
P0.03 - 1720
P0.04 - 3800

To set your maximum frequency at 132 Hz.

The mimimum frequency looks like it can be set with:

P2.00 - 03
P2.06 - 20

The maximum value for P2.06 is 20 (Hz), which would give you 573 rpm. Perhaps AD would know a better setting to get to 635.

Re: ATC Macro / PLC Help please

Scott, if I'm understanding the syntax correctly, in example 1 moving from position 3 to position 8 would require the G code to read "G53 A#101" correct?

Re: What's in your control box

With a line filter and shielded cables, you shouldn't have much problems with EMI. You should be good on the amperage. Most recommendations I've seen are the sum of your motor amperages *.6. Fuses/circuit breakers are very much open to being placed however you want. If you are trying to squeak every...

Re: Tool Changing for spindles without tool holders.

Aamir,

That is a very interesting design for a mill. Can I ask who the manufacturer is?

I am very interested in seeing your macro program for the tool changer.

Re: My first cnc

When I buy the steppers and such what do I need to watch out for regarding specs? Depending on how fast you want to go, the motor's inductance can be important. The higher the inductance, the more voltage the motors need to go faster. Automation Technologies' 570 oz in KL23H2100-50-4B motors are a ...
