Re: Router related questions.

Take a look at Patrio's machine. While I can't see under the table, I guess I would have to test it to see if it did as you guys suggest. I find it hard to believe it would deflect that much given the cutting forces. Now if the frame/gantry were of less rigid design/material, I could see that being...

Re: Router related questions.

Why? I would imagine it depends on the rigidity of the machine? Easy to see just lock one side and turn the screw and measure how much other side deflects. Obviously will depend on what and how your cutting to how much forces are involved but some deflection will occur. The question is how much you...

Re: Router related questions.

I want to build a 4x4 router. But I am going to likely go with one screw right up the middle for the Y axis in order to avoid the issues you have. Heavy linear guides and trucks on the sides. Don't do it, Marty, it's not worth it. Twin screws are much better on a wide gantry and provided you use St...

Re: Router related questions.

I believe you... :D So you are using one output to disable the "first" driver (the one with the offset home switch). Is that correct? Yes, output turns on a relay which disables the first drive, however, it's the second switch which is offset backward from first. What happens if the "...

Re: Router related questions.

I think that you could do this with 1 input and one output using a DPDT relay. One side of the relay toggling between 2 home limit switches, the other side toggling either the enable or step signal, if enable is not available Relay (output#) inactive Home (Dual motor axis) as per normal routine. Ba...

Re: Router related questions.

I don't think it is possible to do this with less than two inputs and two outputs. You have to monitor each home switch independently as it will never be known which will hit first. Based on which is first hit, you will have to disable that driver, and then continue with the second. Using the backo...

Re: Router related questions.

Using the enable is a really good idea. However, it sounds like it would eat up two inputs (one for each limit) and two outputs (one for each control line for the enable) Yes but really only using two extra outputs because even if worked correctly two limit inputs are required. However, it is possi...

Re: Router related questions.

If you daisy chain both motors(drivers) and hook up individual input home switches on both the X(main) and X(slave) and wire it in a way that when you tell the machine to home it moves both main and slave until 1 will hit the switch first then cut power to the driver while the other motor hits its ...

Re: What's in your control box

Here's my way of doing it. E-stop should kill or shut down anything that can hurt you. This should be Hardware controlled not software driven. It should also then inform the controller that E-stop condition occurred which then shuts off its Outputs and stops code running etc. It should not Kill powe...
