Re: HERCUS Mill Retrofit

First chips... all be it wood chips lol. I have no work holding stuff at home so found a scrap of timber and jammed it in the slot. The spindle motor is rather weak as expected being about half the power of the original one but I was surprised at how well it handled being smashed into the block with...

Re: Anomalous Behavior of Beagle Bone Green on Acorn Board with separate power supplies

I don’t have much to add to this other than I have leadshine servos and 24/5v meanwell PS. I have the 48v PS for the servos wired in parallel with the acorn power supply so running a single power cable and I have not had any issues with power up. I did used to have it not boot properly when I had se...

HERCUS PC160

I have now acquired the Hercus PC160 i mentioned in my mill thread so i thought i would post a new thread. The Mill had no control gear in the cabinet as it had all been removed but this lathe was apparently working the last time it was powered up. I would imagine the mill had all the same gear in i...

Re: Dual Voltage Power Supply with Acorn?

I too had to purchase a dual volt power supply and now have the original floating around as a spare. So for me it would have been benedicial to have it supplied. However 3 options when purchasing would probably be ideal, no power supply, 24v, 24&5. I plan on purchasing another acorn to control this ...

Re: Plasma control

Yep, fastCAM is a specific plasma cam package. It has fastCAM to set curf and do lead in and lead outs and I’m sure plenty of other features I don’t use then is has fastNEST to nest all the files onto a sheet and output the nc file.

Re: Plasma control

The machine is a HYCUT. We have a license and dongle for fastCAM. Our issue has been with random errors of edges. If we cut a full sheet nest and have multiple plates of the same profile once stacked on top of each other most would be within a mm or so but every now and then one would have an edge o...

Plasma control

I did a quick search and only found limited information on controlling plasma cutter. Since undertaking my little mill retrofit I have learnt a lot along the way. One thing being that I think the errors we were getting with our plasma cutter (where the spare servos and drives cane from for my projec...

Re: HERCUS Mill Retrofit

I finally got my z axis working after stuffing around with the new servo drive and then reverting back to changing parameters of the original drive. While i wait for my laser cut motor mounting bracket to arrive i dropped the 3 servo pulleys into a local engineering shop to broach 5mm key slots in t...

Re: Leadshine Servo Driver

An update. While researching a solution I came across some information which helped me figure out how to use the v1.0 tuning software to modify the parameters in the old drive. I was able to change the encoder count value and get the new motor working with the old drive. Connect it to acorn and it w...

Re: Acorn I/O expantion

That does sound awesome. Not that I will probably need it anytime soon but still be good to have that capabilities.
