Acorn G code program library
I would like to suggest consideration of G code program library for Acorn users---mill and lathe example---turning programs would include taper shank production--Morse, Jarno, B&S, and speciality--tool and cutter, etc this library would also allow new users to trial run programs for verification...

Re: GHOST? Noise? Bad Luck? Could use some ideas..
Bridgeport EZ Trak and EZ Path mill/lathe from factory 20+ years ago had a problem with lost position --dc servo- due to compression locking mechanism on smooth output shafts of SEM branded dc axis motors no key or pins or setscrews are involved in squeezing drive shaft sprocket--and under load slip...

Re: Bridgeport Boss5 to Centroid Acorn retrofit
transformer and voltage you note should work great for Boss retrofit
fuse all applications properly and you should have a highly reliable drive system

Re: Bridgeport Boss5 to Centroid Acorn retrofit
suggestions avoid delta wound transformers--the center tap neutral complicates your application toroids are great as long as you know wiring and how to handle unused leads stick with laminated core ac to ac transformers if possible toroids in preassembled form with clearly tagged leads as in your li...

Re: Bridgeport Boss5 to Centroid Acorn retrofit
the T1 transformer should work nicely for step down power input as incoming main into Leadshine drive--leave as ac voltage is my recommendation you need a 2:1 stepdown ratio with 120 vac input giving 60 vac output approximately I have used that transformer on many retrofits--20+ years ago so some sp...

Re: Bridgeport Boss5 to Centroid Acorn retrofit
the primary 3 phase transformer may present a problem regarding neutral/ground I have used the single phase step down transformer located in lower right of transformer cabinet to power step motor retrofit drives--this was 20 years ago and details are fuzzy--in those days only dc voltage input was th...

Re: Bridgeport Boss5 to Centroid Acorn retrofit
if you have balanced 3 phase input power --not static or rotary convertor-- you may be able to tap off main transformer to supply voltage range 50 to 70 vac I have not used leadshine drives, but most comparable drives have electrolytic capacitors board mounted-- this gets you around building stand a...
