Re: Trying to troubleshoot some jerky motion in cuts

Gary, That makes so much sense, I think it finally clicked and now I am understanding how resolution would affect my diagonal and arc cuts! Thank you for the link, I will give it a read now. The belts and pulleys may very well be undersized, everything mechanical on the machine is how it came from t...

Re: Trying to troubleshoot some jerky motion in cuts

I have noticed a little smoother results with 3200. At some point I think you may be seeing the tooth patern of the gears in your cuts. It might also be material vibrating on the table when cutting. Without going to a mill you are not going to get results like a mill. Agreed, I'm going to switch it...

Re: Trying to troubleshoot some jerky motion in cuts

Set up to air cut the file. Next change to single step on your screen. This will run one line at a time. When you do the straight line it should run that whole section in one move. See how many segments are on the choppy curve I just tried it and all the codes seem to be good. diagonals and arc are...

Re: Migrate from Acorn Mill to Acorn Router

I also have the mill version that i bought prior to the Router release. Is there a File with the router VCP I can just swap mine out with (I'm not ready to create and modify my own VCP). The router VCP looks like it already has 99% of everything I would need.

Re: Trying to troubleshoot some jerky motion in cuts

AH cool, just AXYZ machines? How do you find the wear and tear on them? Do they generally last long or require replacements? Do you know if generally the rack or pinion wears first or equally? I was able to dial in my speeds and feeds and get beautiful cuts (for a cnc router) in the y direction. (fi...

Re: Trying to troubleshoot some jerky motion in cuts

The slaved axis is paired and assumed to be everything exactly the same. As long as you have the pro license, axis squaring stays in the system. Mine had a tag inside the control box that listed the steps per inch at 1600. It took a little math but wasn't hard. Just divide that number by 1600 to ge...

Re: Trying to troubleshoot some jerky motion in cuts

The tag above the lower right torrid coil shows what color to use with what incoming voltage. I changed to a different wire to get my dc voltage down. I forgot the colors and can't see your tag good. Mine was wired for 208v input and I have almost 250 so I changed it to the color for 240. Mine was ...

Re: Trying to troubleshoot some jerky motion in cuts

1-Check the actual voltage supply to the drives if you are reusing the oem power supply. They might have several taps to match different incoming voltage. 1- Just went to triple check and looks like I was incorrect. (Disclaimer- I am not good with electronics so its best to assume I don't know what...

Re: Trying to troubleshoot some jerky motion in cuts

look for loose stuff. have you checked for lost motion in the mechanical system? the climb cut you mention will 'bring out' any mechanical problems and amplify them. I've checked the belts Disconnected the belts and checked for shaft play in the transmission (large pulley to pinion) I don't really ...

Re: Trying to troubleshoot some jerky motion in cuts

wow nice machine.. this machine is crying out for some real servos! who would run such a big heavy machine with stepper motors? Thank you, and AXYZ the company would. I'm seeing sergei's post in the FB group with his machine flying and it definitely makes me want to buy some clearpath servo...
