Re: Upgrading a Gorilla CNC from Flashcut to Acorn
If you look on the Schematics page, you will see numerous examples that both source and sink step/direction signals to stepper drives from the DB25 header. FYI... on the advanced page you have the ability to invert signals. No sense over complicating the process, a bit more time in the manual and on...

Re: New Build Steel Frame Router
I have not been able to find any documentation on the acceleration setting. Usually acceleration has units of m/s^2 or ft/s^2. In Acorn the unit is in Seconds, so I am guessing that's the time to accelerate to full speed? (Intuitive) Internally there must be a conversion to acceleration m/s^2. If w...

Re: Help on isolation switch fit two circuits/power supplies
A few observations: In my experience, usually the spindle would be on a higher amperage circuit than the control Is there a reason to not use a single, higher amperage circuit? I prefer using a load break switch, usually door mounted as an added safety feature Your spindles VFD and the drives power ...

Re: CNC12 Software cycle start disabled
Well said Marc. There is a deep rooted long standing "programmer bias" in the PLC code intentionally set for reasons I cannot wrap my head around. Normally open and closed devices are binary, in other words, as simply as any actionable device can be. 2 choices, represented as zero or one. ...

Re: Tool Change Macro Help
I agree. As someone who runs multiple acorns the only thing i would prefer is if they included 1-2 hours of centroid tech support with the purchase. The forum based support is ok for most things but not ideal for digging into the weeds, something like this. They do, just not on the same page as the...

Re: Controller-only (not motors/drivers) upgrade for PRS Alpha
Yes, Oriental's docs are thorough, if not close to overwhelming! If you can simply reset to factory defaults, they will work just fine with most controllers. If you do succeed, there may be a cottage industry there for you!

Re: New Shopbot conversion: tech help needed
Agreed. One of the "Door Safety" input designations should work the way you want. In my travels as a SB service tech that key switch with the spindle wrench attached was the second most requested safety feature to remove. In first place was the 2 second "Ooo-Aah, Ooo-Aah, Ooo Aah"...

If you're diligent you can probably find a way to reprogram the drives online. It used to take usb to rj45 adapter cable and M$ hyper terminal

Re: Controller-only (not motors/drivers) upgrade for PRS Alpha
Hey man, I'm not trying to sell you a controller package, just trying to save you some wasted time and frustration. There are a good number of SB guys here that have built their own systems, and they, along with myself try to assist the next guys that come along
