Re: Single End vs Both End Grounding
Well, NASA surely could not be using the best possible methods, so I stand corrected! LOL Having wired a few recording studios and one vidoe + sound editing studio I know we only grounded shields at one end. Ground loops do come into play when you do it otherwise. I've never gone wrong just groundin...

Single End vs Both End Grounding
Over the years there has been a lot of disagreement about how to ground wiring in a control circuit! If you can grasp the concept of how a TV antenna "induces" the available signal from the air into the antenna, then you are closed to understanding the concept of "single End Grounding...

Re: Stepper only turns in positive direction
I remember going into the wizard to set some perimeters but not sure what I have done wrong. You may not have done anything wrong. Just check your stepper drive switches and see if one of them changes the motion from single direction to bi-directional. I see a lot of them defaulted to move in a sin...

Re: Will acorn work through a usb C ethernet dongle? What about through a switch?
Keep in mind that Acorn has to have a static IP address and an unmanaged switch will not be able to do that! A managed switch that you can configure each port separately can have static IP ports.but i might try using a switch for science reasons on some non critical parts

Re: Will acorn work through a usb C ethernet dongle? What about through a switch?
How well does acorn work through a usb C ethernet adapter? What about through an unmanaged network switch? In my experience there is no way to make the unmanaged switch see both a static IP address for Acorn and a DHCP address for your file server! There might be a work around! You'll have to set t...

Re: Acorn reading spindle speed 4times faster than it should be
A 1,000 line encoder has 4,000 pulses!
So whatever line encoder you have, enter 4 times that number in acorn.

Quadrature Errors, Old issue!
4 years ago I finished my Mill conversion to find that I had quadrature errors with my spindle encoder. I sent the encoder to Centroid, they tested it, said it was 100% OK and return it to me. Ok, in the meantime I just changed the 324 and 325 parameters to "255" and forgot about it. It ne...

Re: Auto/manual/timed backup software
I guess I go at this differently having been in and around computers since the 80's! If you set up a CNC controller PC as suggested by Centroid, you would only have your windows install and CNC 12 on the computer. CNC 12 does weekly reports which has all the data of your CNC 12 install. Windows and ...

Re: Rigid tapping skips holes randomly
In the meantime, you can keep the thread from rolling if you raise the Z height and the clearance amount about .250" above the actual hole. You will have to make the hole depth deeper by the same amount in Fusion. This does two things. It lets the spindle get to speed and stabilize before enter...

Re: Faraday tape/ copper tape for EMI shielding encoder cable
I connect my shields on one end to the ground plane I mount the components on. This is also is the earth ground and a common ground point for any DC power supplies. Is there any reason not to? So far no issues doing it this way on 4 different machines. Single point ground is the best way! (All grou...
