Re: Looking for Lathe tooling turret

Are there any dealers in the US that have a small powered turret suitable for a small DIY lathe?

What do I need for a C-axis?

I have an older Acorn build, built off a Logan 11" lathe. It works, and fairly well, though some of my design choices maybe weren't ideal. :) I eventually upgraded to an OmniTurn since I needed more of a true production machine capable of running flood coolant, but I still use the Logan on occa...

Re: General questions from a newbie

1) As with most hobby DIYers I'm on a budget and will likely be using one of the many metric ball screws available on Ebay and Amazon. However, I plan to work in Inches (Imperial). I assume this can be handled in the set-up / configuration of CNC12, is that a good assumption? -The controller doesn'...

Re: First Production Parts!

It's been able to hold around a thou or two so far. Plenty accurate for my work.

First Production Parts!

Several years ago, I started a conversion of an old Logan lathe, over to CNC. What I really needed was a proper production machine, a typical GT-27 style, but I can't yet afford such a thing. So I slowly converted this Logan (one of two lathes I had at the time, and set up as a turret when I started...

Intercon Demo Lathe questions?

Finally dusting off my long-abandoned lathe conversion, and downloaded the offline demo to practice setting up simple parts in Conversational. Forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question, but my lathe is a converted manual, with the tool in front. The Demo defaults to the tool in back, as with ...

Re: Additional conversational tutorials?

Which is the exact opposite of what I've been told since the Acorn came out- that even complex pieces can be made easily and quickly in conversational. Even the demo pawn, which is about as complex a piece as I need to make, was supposedly "built" in conversational. In any case, last time ...

Re: Additional conversational tutorials?

The manuals, which I'll freely admit I haven't by any means fully absorbed, are just "shopping lists". Do this, enter that value, done. Yes, I'm sure it'll make more sense once I have a grasp of it, but I'm having a hard time getting that grasp- and the manual is written by experienced eng...

Additional conversational tutorials?

Looking specifically for more help with lathe conversationals. The manual's tutorials don't really explain anything, they're just 'shopping lists', And the one YouTube video is just a basic starter/demo. Looking for something that goes a little more in-depth, and preferably written with a beginner i...

Re: Lathe Ballscrews

What? There's lots of cases where the tool changes direction, and a small amount of slop can become apparent. Turning a sphere, for example- the tool starts at the "top" of the ball, and starts cutting in the X+ direction. It makes it to the widest part of the ball and reverses to start ba...
