Re: calculating turns ratio for a rack and pinion

Metric threads are stated in mm/rev unlike imperial threads which are stated as rev/inch. Consult your drive and motor docs to first get your motor steps/rev squared away before worrying about mm's/rev. Steps/rev is a fixed value that doesn't change with ball screw pitch, rack and pinion ratios, pu...

Re: gas springs on z for heavy spidle motor

I usually use 1" diameter cylinders. In any case its easy to calculate the pressure available. for 1' diameter: Area * Pressure = Lift. pi * r^2=.7853 sqin. at 100 psi max 78# lift 3/4" cylinder is 44# A look at how I mount them between 4:30 and 5:00 in this video: https://youtu.be/qtzkAExTA00 The ...

Re: need some help with VFD and homing issue

Try removing the probe setting. Does that allow the VFD to run?
You cannot start the spindle if there is a probe in it, and that what appears to be happening. I think something is wired wrong.

It will probably work, but you can buy a Meanwell 5 volt supply for less money, and it WILL work.

Re: M0_jogging

My understanding is that the M200 code is what I want. However... The manual (on M200 code) cryptically mentions needing M0_jogging, which Google Foo seems to indicate is a "extra cost option". However... I don't have an answer, but I am really curious as to what you are trying to do. I am assuming...

Got out to my shop this morning to check out the Acorn PLC. I made these changes, compiled and it tested good. Anytime you cycle between x1 x10 x100 with keyboard shortcuts or press the x1 x10 x100 buttons on the screen it will also trigger incremental jogging.
This is great news!
