Re: Encoder Issue

Could be a bad encoder. Could be a slipping coupling. Could be a bad electrical connection. Could be a bad power supply. Could be a bad encoder port.

Or, you can switch to an Acorn6 that has multiple encoder inputs.

Re: Move to different hardware

The easiest way is to just copy the CNCT and Intercon directories from the old drive to the new one. No need to reinstall anything or restore reports. Be sure to run the tuner and check for communication errors.

PhilipTrueman wrote: Sun Mar 24, 2024 5:40 am One thing that doesn't happen is that the spindle doesn't change speed as the tool goes to a smaller diameter.
Marc already explained this. At 1000 meters/min, you are already at your max rpm at the stock diameter. There is no way for the spindle to increase any more when the part gets smaller.

Re: No motor movement

The 2K series resistor just drops the voltage. Save yourself trouble down the road and connect them according to the manufacturer of the CNC control who says to use the DB25 connector.

Re: Program eratic after a tool change Lathe

The fact that it does not return to zero, implies that you are overdriving your motors and loosing steps. What are your programmed feed rates for the grooving tool? Common mistake is to program a valid range in feed per minute, but have the feed set for feed per rev. That will almost always cause mi...

Re: Rigid Tapping Setup

Until you know there is noise on the analog input from the Acorn, then it could be internal noise in the driver converting the analog signal to digital. When running the driver in test or jog mode, the up/down buttons generate digital signals, not analog ones that route through the analog to digital...

Re: Rigid Tapping Setup

Do you even know if it's interference? Have you looked at the signal when the inverter is running? Is interference visible?
