Re: Motor Transformer Sizing

Scott, I plan on using the Centroid cap and bridge, but my question is if 16A is enough to run the 4 motors I have. Big difference in price between 2KVA and 3KVA transformers on eBay. I curious where the 20A number comes from? If I add up the amperage based on the values from the recommend current s...

Re: Motor Transformer Sizing

I had originally thought about running 4-wire service to the machine, but running all the drives on a single leg is probably not a good idea.

Motor Transformer Sizing

With my lathe finished, I'm considering a mill conversion. I have have two 29oz-in motors for Z and X and a 40in-lb for Y. I also have a 16in-oz motor for a rotary table if I can ever find time to work on it. All of these are Centroid 180V motors. Since I need 230V for my spindle motor, it looks lik...

Centroid Lathe Intercon Conversational part programming software

Just a quick additional comment on Keith's video (the topic is locked or I would have added this there). On any of the Intercon cycles, press F5 to bring up the graphical help. When you scroll through the inputs on the right side of the screen, the cut parameter being altered will highlight on the l...

Re: Rotary Axis Naming Convention

I guess machine builders can do whatever they want, but what I summarized was from ISO Standard 841:2001 "Industrial automation systems and integration — Numerical control of machines — Coordinate system and motion nomenclature"

Re: Rotary Axis Naming Convention

http://www.cncexpo.com/Cartesian.aspx Z axis is ALWAYS the axis along which the primary spindle is. With a vertical mill, this would be the vertical axis. With a horizontal mill, it would be front to back, and on a Lathe, it is left to right. The X axis is generally the axis remaining, with the lon...

Re: Splines and gears

Fusion 360 gear generation is just developing the solid model of the gear and creating regular tool paths to profile the gear or to generate a toolpath and rotary table positioning moves to use with an involute cutter. What I was hoping for when I saw this thread was synchronized W axis and spindle ...

Re: Anomalous Behavior of Beagle Bone Green on Acorn Board with separate power supplies

The Beagle Bone boards run Linux which is notorious for having problems if not properly shut down. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/beagleboard/CJOfSdp7ilQ Perhaps these issues are caused by the power being disconnected from the BBG/BBB before the shutdown sequence is finished? If that is the...

Re: Lathe Handwheel Over-Run

The run-on was most significant on the X100 mode and dropping the accel down to 0.2 made a huge improvement. I looked at all the velocity mode tuning TSBs and the two drive tuning videos for Centroid out on the 'Tube and nothing mentions adjusting Accel on the PID screen. In fact, there seems to be ...

Re: Bridgeport EzPath Lathe,Acorn Board & Handwheels

Bertman1, This post has the connector part numbers you will need - Digikey stocks them: http://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=883&p=4020&hilit=oak+handwheels#p4020 and I've attached the schematic for the cables. If your axis moves the wrong direction with the handwheel, you'll need to swa...
