Maybe an obscure bug
I'm training some new folks, teaching them to set up the tool offsets for a new batch of tooling. Because they often make mistakes, I have them "sneaking up" on each new tool's plunge to the clearance plane by turning down the feed rate override until they can verify that the cutter is the...

Re: 5.5.2 ALLIN1DC TESTING
Thanks Mike! I finally realized the power supply was on the main schematic print and I see it now. I can make just about anything I want out as far as machining but electronics makes me scratch my head, but I'm learning. Trying to get over that sickening gut feeling I screwed up buying this thing! ...

Re: Communication Fault error
Liviu,
There should be a policy that when a problem like this is raised in the public forum, its resolution should be posted, as well. That will save both you AND your customers a lot of head-scratching in future.

Re: All-in-1 communication problem
You could, but that's not the greatest idea, because if IT does something stupid, it could damage your mill or lathe.
Much better to figure out that everything about the controller is working right before moving iron.

Re: Power Supply Question
Although I won't discourage you from buying the Ajax power supply (because it works well), there's little chance that your "transformer is no longer transforming". That would require an open winding, which (having been in the transformer business) I can say is rare to almost negligible in ...

Re: Spindle encoder
The 'standard' solution when you can't get to the end of the shaft is to install a timing pulley on the shaft, and belt over to the encoder sideways.

Re: AIODC - revert to single-step at toolchange?
Thank you. I had not even considered using the feed rate knob to invoke a total feed hold. I'll have to check it... it may already be that way. I think that IS much nicer (for both him AND the snap-dome keys) than making him push a bunch of buttons. In the meantime, the other examples you gave will ...

AIODC - revert to single-step at toolchange?
I'm training a new fellow who has zero CNC experience. So, I'm teaching him (for right now) to single-step after a tool change until he can see and confirm (riding the feed knob all the way) that the tool offset is good, and no fixtures are in the way. Of course, this can be done by invoking a tool ...

Re: Appendix A & B of ALLIN1DC Installation Manual
Yep! And the hogging of all that Pyrex out of the meniscus would have been LOTS easier! Hmmm... If I could figure out how to keep the abrasives out of the guts of my machine, that might be a worthy experiment! I've been wanting to build a Mak-Cass for a many years, but the glass for those is mondo-e...

Re: Appendix A & B of ALLIN1DC Installation Manual
As far as only doing this only when you first set up mpu11, I question that. A belt change or a radical change in tempreture might change it. Heck just wear and tear might change it. These changes would be vary small but if you aim for perfection you might want to check them once in a while. -------...
