Re: Mastercam post processor issue/programming question
Ok, so the problem is what you were saying, there's no Z depth in each line. I believe this makes sense since the machine would come down to the first z depth, do several circles without moving z, and then plunge straight into the part. I use Mastercam at work to program for our Hurco and everything...

Re: Mastercam post processor issue/programming question
Well, the program is supposed to be a helical ramp down to -1.0, with a z depth of .1" per revolution. Shouldn't there be an x and y value for each line starting at 14, or am I misunderstanding? The post processor I am using is the one available in Ajax's download section here: http://www.ajaxc...

Mastercam post processor issue/programming question
If i try to program a helical entry into a pocket or do a contour ramp around a circle my program has no x or y values following the G2/G3. It only has an I and J value. if I try to run these programs the cutter just plunges straight into the part. If i linearize the ramp it works ok, but doing this...

CNC stops mid move and loses position.
I'm running a proven program and for some reason the machine randomly stops in the middle of a move. I have to hit cycle start to get it to move again, which is bad enough. What makes things worse is that it doesn't execute the move correctly when I restart it. It loses its position or something and...

Re: All in 1 DC/Bridgeport retrofit question
I still had the y and z axes encoder wires swapped from testing, so that fixed that problem when I straightened them out. Thanks! I'll have to track down a fuse today but I think I'm getting real close to being able to finish the machine set up on this, maybe that will take care of this last problem...

Re: All in 1 DC/Bridgeport retrofit question
Thanks for the response. I checked the fuse and sure enough it was blown on the Z Axis. I don't have another one but I swapped the one from the Y axis to see what happens and sure enough, I get movement on the Z axis now....but, when I hit the jog button the z axis continues moving until it hits a l...

Re: All in 1 DC/Bridgeport retrofit question
I've been communicating with Scott via email but I'm going to post some of my progress here to try to get some weekend help. I can only access this machine after business hours so it is making it a bit of a pain to try to troubleshoot it. I was on a limit, so I couldn't start the MDI mode. Once I go...

Re: All in 1 DC/Bridgeport retrofit question
I should probably add that there is no mechanical bind, and the pulley will turn by hand. When I turn it the encoder it does register the movement.

Re: All in 1 DC/Bridgeport retrofit question
After trying for a few more minutes I got it to jog in both directions on the X and Y axes. It is glitchy though, sometimes it won't move in certain directions. The Z axis problem is still happening though. As soon as I hit the Z + or - button the power bar shoots into the red and it shuts down. I c...
