Re: sinking INP #7 from a different power source?
There might be a jam nut behind, but I would have to disassemble the spindle to find out...So that remains a mystery as long as it is working now. :) I did see the explanation you linked to from Automation Direct, which helped fuel my confusion because the terminology seemed to conflict with the Cen...

Re: sinking INP #7 from a different power source?
EDIT: CNCSNW, I wanted to wait until I could get home to check my manual before I replied. How you identify "sourcing" vs. "sinking" inputs regarding the Allin1 is opposite the way Centroid explains them in Centroid_allin1DC_Install_Manual.pdf rev 8-9-16 in section 5.2, page 35: ...

Re: sinking INP #7 from a different power source?
Thank you, CNCSNW. I do stand corrected. My +24VDC is indeed wired to the input bank common, and I am using the RQ-65D as you said. I really appreciate you helping a machinist with just enough knowledge of electronics to be dangerous get this indexer interfaced. :D The prox switch doesn't use the ty...

sinking INP #7 from a different power source?
I'm working on the last kink of interfacing a Haas 5C indexer to my ALLIN1DC system. I've run into a potential snag. The Haas indexer has a really nice connection cable terminated at the machine/control box end with a 17 pin Amphenol connector, the other end has 4 different Molex connectors (fully p...

Proper drive assignment when adding DC1 for rotary axis
I am trying to add a DC1 to an ALLIN1DC system that was previously configured and working as a 3 axis mill. I am following the directions provided by TB245 (Rev3) "Adding a DC1 4th axis to an ALLIN1DC System. Mounting and +Vm, -Vm & drive fault wiring has been completed per instructions. St...

Re: Interfacing Haas 5C indexer to ALLIN1DC
UPDATE: I disassembled the motor housing of the indexer to better understand the wiring. Haas uses a connector block on the servo end that, to eliminate coolant ingress, is completely potted to encapsulate the 4 Molex plugs that terminate the cable, breaking it out into the 4 components it connects ...

Re: Interfacing Haas 5C indexer to ALLIN1DC
First off, my apologies in advance for such a ridiculously long post with so many questions. I definitely don't understand nearly as much as I thought I did. :( I was able to get some info on the Haas indexer. I asked what type of home switch is used, and whether it is NO or NC. I also asked what th...

Re: Interfacing Haas 5C indexer to ALLIN1DC
Thanks! Just the kind of help I was looking for! I'm not sure why, but I had it in my head that the encoder was attached to the servo motor, and thus I would have had to figure out what the worm ratio was. Makes more sense that the encoder is on the indexer spindle and thus the encoder counts are re...

Re: Interfacing Haas 5C indexer to ALLIN1DC
All Centroid controls for the past 30 years have used the same pinout for a DE9 encoder connection: Pin 1 = n/c Pin 2 = 0VDC (COM) Pin 3 = /Z Pin 4 = /A Pin 5 = /B Pin 6 = Z Pin 7 = A Pin 8 = B Pin 9 = +5V (Vcc) That pinout can be found on nearly any Centroid control wiring diagram. Given the wire ...

Re: Tool Length Offset setting for tools exceeding quill travel
I'm sure the issues are similar, and share a root cause. CNCSNW provides a key piece of information regarding the "look-ahead" of the parser. I think the control "sees" the next move after a tool change (but before the operator has a chance to reposition the knee) and throws an o...
