Hardinge TFB conversion to CNC
Hi, I am trying to gather information to start a Hardinge TFB project. I have received good information on ball screws and the installation. I am planning on using a Centroid allin1dc as I have experience with this board on my Bridgeport Boss machine. The question is what size dc servo motor should ...

Do you prefer the Oak board as to the Allin1dc as with the Oak you can use ac servos?

Re: Hardinge TFB conversion to CNC
Thank you for the step file of the X-axis attachment. This is extremely helpful and very kind of you.
Would provide me with the step files for the motor, pulley, and ball support mounts?
Thank you

Re: Hardinge TFB conversion to CNC
Forgive me I did not look closely enough at the pictures, I now see the z-axis ball screw is free-floating on the left end (closest to the headstock end)
Could you provide me with the step file for the attachment of the x-axis ball screw nut?

Re: Hardinge TFB conversion to CNC
The step file helps me to understand the mounting of the nut to the carriage. In looking over the HIWIN shop drawings I see support units, one for the z-axis ball screw and one for the x-axis ball screw. Where these support units used where the drive motor pullies were mounted. If so how was the z-a...

Hardinge TFB conversion to CNC
Has anyone converted a Hardinge TFB or HLV-H to Centroid CNC? I have a TFB that I would like to convert to CNC. I have a pretty good idea of all the elements needed. I found an old post where “tblough” added Hiwin ball screws and I even found the Hiwin drawings for the ball screw he used. I need adv...

Re: Control Cabinet layout
Mike,
Thanks for the picture of you control panel layout.
The control box I am using is for a bridgeport boss machine and it is quite large.
Do you see any problem locating the CPU in the box?
Where is your CPU located.
Thanks
Jeff

Control Cabinet layout
Are there any suggestions on control cabinet layout? I have seen panel layouts in the Ajax CNC manual but there is no mention of a location for a VFD. Are there any problems with locating a VFD inside of the control cabinet?

Re: Using MPG's as hand wheels on a lathe
There is a fellow in Brockton, MA, Paul Babin who is in the business of converting hardinge lathes to cnc/manual. He uses Ajax controls and installs mpg’s behind the longitudinal handwheel and the cross feed handwheel. The lathe will operate as a cnc lathe or it can be used as a manual lathe. I saw ...
