I program with the edge of the insert as well. Its safer. By the time your threading the part is usually complete. Bad time for running a tool into the shoulder behind the thread.

Looks like Rev 3 boards are on amazon from centroid for $275 free shipping. I'm not sure if the $25 price break it to sell off the old inventory or if you'd get a Rev 4 board when buying from amazon.

Final updated schematic. Needed to invert the Z-axis handwheel encoder; added a Z-axis glass scale; added spindle motor fan; swapped the status light for a two color red/green indicator (green when ready to run/flashing red when in e-stop or faulted).
