Re: Stepper missing steps tried PLC968 not fixed
Well I got it running great and no longer a angry old man. Took the steppers off and used ac servos and it machines very nice and in fact it plows through aluminum dry better than my m400 bed mill. I will be sticking with servos they are obviously less finicky and clearly perform better. Cut circles...

Re: Stepper missing steps tried PLC968 not fixed
I already uploaded dozens of photos of everything so im not certain where all those posts went. I can only do it from a cell phone. If something is preventing me or someone is deleting them there isn't much more i can do. They were posted late last night and still up this morning. Everything is wire...

Re: Stepper missing steps tried PLC968 not fixed
Here is a link to the stepper motor and driver i am using. As mentioned i have a Antek toroidal 70v supply for clean power. https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32619683637.html Ive also tried parallel and series with the unipolar steppers and standard 4 wire with the bipolar. It appears a stepper tuning is...

Re: Stepper missing steps tried PLC968 not fixed
To further clarify the black and red go back to the meanwell 5v supply. The green and white goto the board for step direct. My power and ground for the drives come from the 70v toroidal supply

Re: Stepper missing steps tried PLC968 not fixed
Sure here are a couple photos. I’m not new to this and have a year college course of low voltage electronics/dc wiring and 20 years wiring automotive computers everyday then programming so the premise is much the same and these are far less complex to wire. I’ve built 4 different projects so far and...

Re: Stepper missing steps tried PLC968 not fixed
Here is a more complete photo of machine. Btw the axis, base, rails, etc were all machines on my atrump centroid bed mill. The rails are all within .0001 to .0003 far as accuracy. It’s very smooth and a fingertip can glide the table around.

Re: Stepper missing steps tried PLC968 not fixed
Here are some photos. You can see the circles keep moving over as it changes doc. I did a free air with a marker and it’s better so obviously torque seems to be very low even at low speeds causing missed steps. Bench test misses steps and and pressure on the table such as myself leaning against it. ...

Re: Stepper missing steps tried PLC968 not fixed
Also using a 70v Toroidal power supply. Shielded and stranded cable, misses steps even with spindle off or free air operation. expected since bench test misses as well.

Re: Benchmill with steppers, missing steps, pulse revs, unable to tune
Just to clarify the report is only 1 of 30 ways I tried. I’ve tried every dip switch option on the drives. The problem when you start using 50,000 pulse revs the speed of the motors are slower than snails.
